The Week of the Cursed Vacation

This week Oaklee and I were all set to go on our first vacation without Ryan, since he was still at work. We were going to head down to St. George with my family for some warmer weather. The plan was to leave Thursday morning. Oaklee had been sick all week so I was really hoping she would get better before it was time to leave. This is her sad sick face on Tuesday:

Our plan to get better before Thursday didn't work out. By Wednesday night she was so sick that we made the trek up to Primary Children's Hospital. Here we are waiting in the ER:

After a few hours of waiting they decided that Oaklee had RSV and Bronchiolitis. Poor baby. She was having trouble breathing so she got put on oxygen. Here she is with Grandma who came up to wait with us.

After a few more hours they decided she was bad enough they wanted to keep her overnight. Here she is in her crib that looked like a cage.

Because we were spending the night, we obviously weren't going to be leaving for St. George in the morning. My family was considering going down and then my older sister, who had also been sick all week, found out she had pneumonia. My parents decided they were staying, but two of my sisters planned to leave later on Friday morning.

Back at the hospital, Thursday morning they decided to release us and then changed their minds because Oaklee was dehydrated, so we got to stay even longer and get an IV. Just what we were hoping for.

Around seven last night they finally decided she was okay to go home on oxygen. As you can see she was very happy to be home, even if she was still connected to a machine.

Friday morning while we were recovering at home Haley, Aodhan, and Sarah headed to St. George. They started on their way and Sarah promptly began to throw up on the car.
And with that the last of our family gave up on making it down to St. George. Clearly it was a cursed vacation.

  1. Well at least it all happened before you got to St. George rather than while you were there. I'm so glad that the baby is home and doing a little better, that is too scary when they are sick and so little. I hope the rest of the family feels better soon.

  2. I can't not BELIEVE it! Vacations should NOT be allowed to be cursed. I'm so so sorry and hope everyone is on the mend.
