Oddest child ever...

Our little Oaklee is almost one (WHAT? How did that happen). Granted my opinion is bias, but I swear she has one of the biggest personalities ever for such a little thing. She almost always has a smile and is always making me laugh. She's nut, just like her dad.

Over the last month or so she has developed the weirdest habit and I feel the need to blog about it. It all started with these little plastic puppies. Up to this point she had never been afraid of anything. My parents have all sorts of animals that she's been around since birth and never blinked an eye at. One day my mom found some little dogs and put them in her toy bin. This is what happened:

We tried again the next day to see if it was a one time thing.

As you can see, no improvement. Since that time she has decided to be afraid of the most RANDOM things. Here's the list of her current fears:
  • Plastic dogs, but not stuffed dogs
  • Stuffed dinosaurs, but not plastic ones
  • Stuffed pigs
  • Stuffed elephants
  • Stuffed monkeys but not plastic ones
  • Gloves, of any color or type
  • Ankle or wrist braces (my dad has to take it off before she will go to him)
  • Hashbrowns
  • Old people (as far as I can tell the cut off is about age 65)
  •  Balloons
  • Dishwashers
  • Vacuums
  • Stuffed polar bears, but not the live one we saw at the zoo today
  • Live sea lions, but not stuffed ones
  • Certain dolls, I haven't yet figured out how she differentiates which ones she likes and which ones she's scared of.
  • And lastly, sudden, loud noises. This one is pretty common I think, but for those of you that know Oaklee's dad, you know that with basically every day is one constant sudden, loud noise.

There are probably more that I can't think of right now, but you get the idea. She's crazy. But she's our crazy baby and we love her. And, if you can manage to keep all these horrors away from her you will get to see this:

Cutest baby ever, in my humble opinion.

  1. Totally makes sense. I'm scared of gloves and hashbrowns too.
