Squinty Eyes

Once upon a time I had a beautiful baby

who had a beautiful smile. Here she is

in her new church dress

She had beautiful blue eyes.

Then one day, for no apparent reason she decided
to start doing the WEIRDEST squinty eyed smile.
Here's how it started.

Then it turned into this.

And now it's the only smile we ever see out of her.

In the bathroom....

At Nama's house...

Again......

And again....

Even first thing in the morning.

I'm not sure where this new squinty smile came from

or if we will ever have our regular big blue eyed smile back.

Lucky for her, the squinty smile is just adorable. :)

Bentley!

This last week we had a LONG overdue visit with Bentley! I was so excited for her to come play with Oaklee now that Oaklee is more aware and can interact with people. We had SOOO much fun. Ryan was still really sick for the first half of the visit so he had to sit out some of the activities (poor guy). But the trip was so much fun. Bentley is such a special little spirit in our family and we love when we get to have her here. She and Oaklee already have the cutest bond. Oaklee literally just watches her every move and thinks everything she does is hilarious. And Bentley is the sweetest big sister. She wanted to help me do everything from feeding her to changing diapers. Watching them together was so fun for me and Ryan.

Bentley's trips here are always a little hectic because all of our families are so excited to see her also. We got to spend a lot of time with both sides of families, but we also made time for the four of us to spend some time together. Being home making dinner with the two girls playing was probably the best part of her visit for me.

Here are some pictures of all our adventures:

Okay this picture isn't actually from the visit.

It's from the day before Bentley came, Valentine's Day.

It's just so freaking cute that I had to throw it in. :)

Bentley's first night here playing with Oaklee.

We got to go to Kangaroo Zoo with Parker and Hunter.
Bentley LOVES playing with these cousins.

Going down the big slide together.

Matching Monkey pj's!

Bowling with Dad.

Two of Bentley's favorite aunts came bowling too.

As you can see, they are so funny.

Matching heart pj's for Valentine's Day.

Bentley loves ALL things princess. Here she is as Belle.

Teaching Oaklee to play the piano.

Playing on the couch.

We got to have a sleepover with the boys!

Swimming! Bentley had so much fun. The adorable little girl next

to her is Jayne who got to play with us all week too.

Oaklee picked out her own swim suit and Jayne's,

which she was very proud of.

Big smiles with dad in the lazy river.

Jayne LOVES her uncle "Ry Ry"

Oaklee also loves Jayne. As you can tell we are big fans

of Jayne at our house. If she turns up missing one day, don't look here.

Playing together before bed.

On the mend...sort of.

We are working on getting back to normal at the Webster house.

Well, Ryan isn't getting better at all, if anything he's getting worse.

He has just been in bed since he got home. Apparently he didn't get the

memo that we are working on getting better. Bentley comes tomorrow so we

are really hoping he starts to feel better so he can enjoy his time

with Bentley. (Side note: I can't wait for Bentley to play with Oaklee now

that she is so much more aware. It is going to be so fun. Tons of pictures

to come, I'm sure.)

Oaklee really is getting better. She's still fussier than normal, but considering, she's

been really good. As long as we don't let it lapse between

her pain meds, she stays pretty happy. We went back to insta care

on Sunday to get her looked at and since there are no signs of

infection, now we just have to change her dressing twice a day at home.

This part REALLY sucks. She cries every time, which makes me cry.

I hate it. But the burns are slowly getting better so hopefully we will only

be doing this for another week or so.

Here are some pictures of the progress:

Here she is on Sunday, after we got back from Insta Care.

She had just had some pain meds and was feeling pretty good about life.

This is her right foot, the worst of the burns.
This picture makes me so sad.

And this is her left leg. It looks TONS better.

Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Today started out as a good Saturday. My best little friend Jayne came over and played with me and Oaklee for a few hours. Then we got ready to go to a baptism. We left early to do lunch with my family. As the food was being brought to the table a bowl of steaming hot soup got set down close to Oaklee, and because she is at the stage where she needs to have everything, she of course grabbed for it. I wasn't sitting by her but I looked up when she started screaming. We immediately took all of her clothes off but after rinsing her off in the bathroom we quickly decided we needed to take her to the hospital.

She had 2nd degree burns all up one leg and on her other foot. The nurses and doctors were so good and Oaklee was soon all bandaged up and ready to go home. She was such a trooper too. Watching her be in pain and not being able to do anything about it was horrible. It has been a very long day for both of us. And it was made harder by the fact that Ryan has been having a horrible day also. He is slowly making his way home from North Dakota for his two week break but has been too sick to drive. I know it was hard on him to not be here with her and it was hard on me to not have him here. It was also hard to know that he was sick and trying to drive and once again, nothing I could do about it. A very helpless day for me all around. I am grateful for our wonderful families though, who got me through the day. We go back tomorrow to get the bandages changed and to check that there is no sign of infection. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little less stressful for everyone. Needless to say we will not be having soup again for some time.

Here are some pictures in the hospital (they are a little blurry):

Here she is before the bandages, while they were pouring

stuff on her to keep it from getting worse.

Her poor little foot.

Her leg, this one kills me.

All bandaged up.

Poor baby.....

Blaine's Blessing

Oaklee is one lucky girl because she is surrounded by fun cousins to play with. One of her cousins, Blaine (technically a second cousin) had his baby blessing today. While you can't tell it from the pictures, Blaine is actually a month younger than Oaklee. He's a giant, but his daddy is 6'7", so really, what can you expect? They are really funny together. And they must have had a code or something because they both started crying at the same time during sacrament but then were happy as could be when they got to play together out in the hall. Here are some of the cute pictures we got.

Having a talk.

Cheesing it up for the camera.

Here's a video of Blaine trying to get Oaklee's toes.

And here is a video of them watching Blaine's mommy
play peek-a-boo. It was cracking me up.

A Long Over Due Update

Well, clearly my blogging leaves something to be desired. I've set a goal to do better this year, because I know how much I love looking at all my family and friends blogs. We'll see how I do.

A lot has happened since I last blogged. Most of the changes have to do with Oaklee, but we'll get to that later. Two very big changes have happened with Ryan and I. Ryan started a new job! He is working in North Dakota on his uncles oil rig. Ryan has wanted to do this for years so he is thrilled that it has finally happened. He says it's the hardest work he's ever done but he loves it! There are, of course, some cons with this job. Like the minor detail that it is in a different state. His schedule right now is two weeks on and two weeks off. The time apart is really hard on all of us, but the pro list makes it worth it. The biggest pro is big change number two, I get to stay home with Oaklee. That's right! This mama gets to stay home with her baby now! I've loved every second of it. I'm so grateful for a husband who made it possible for me to be a full time mommy. We are still adjusting to everything that comes along with this new job, but we both agree it's been a great thing in our lives.

Now, on to the star of our family. I think I'm obsessed. But I'm her mom, so it's allowed. Oaklee has gotten SOO big. She turned 7 months old on Jan 29th and I have no idea how that happened. I swear she was born last week. She eats like a mad woman now. She loves everything I put in front of her. Except juice. She wants nothing to do with juice. We are working on that. She can now roll over, as seen here:

But she will only do it when forced. When I give her floor time she is perfectly happy to stay in one spot and play. She can also sit up on her own now....basically. She's still a little wobbly, but getting better every day. She's a chatter too! Don't know where she got that from.... She talks all day long. I can only imagine the stories I'm going to hear when she can actually talk. The most noticeable thing about Miss Oaklee is her smile. The kid is almost always smiling. She thinks everything is funny. Waking up to her big, cheesy, scrunched nose smile every morning is the best thing ever. Because she smiles so much, and because I think she's the cutest thing ever created, I have a picture taking problem. My sister's will be the first to tell you about it. I saw a pin on pinterest that I'm pretty sure one of them wrote about me. It said, "Oh, my baby moved an inch, I better take another picture." Yep, that's me. I don't even care though. :)

Because of my picture obsession, there are a lot to pick from, but here are some of my favorites. And some of the big events I missed in my blogging hiatus.

Oaklee's first Halloween! She's the cutest kitty ever.

Oaklee with her big sister! We didn't get to see Bentley very much this fall,

But when we did she had so much fun being a big sister.

We get her for a week in the middle of February

and I can't wait to see how fun they are together

now that Oaklee is a little bigger.

The famous Oaklee smile.

Oaklee with her cousin Parker. Oaklee is in LOVE with Parker.

If she's ever upset for no reason, Parker just has to smile at her

and she's happy again. He's also one really impressive babysitter

for a 9 year old. He will feed her and even change diapers.

Oaklee with her Bapa. Because my dad has spent this year

recovering, he spends a lot of time sleeping.

So Oaklee and Baba have taken a lot of naps together.

Oaklee's first swim! She LOVES the water.

First Christmas! She was spoiled rotten by her grandparents.
She even somewhat got into the spirit of opening presents.

One of Oaklee's favorite people is her cousin Jayne.

She loves when Jayne comes to play.

Six month check up! She's still a little behind on the

charts but growing like a bad weed.

I do think she's destined to be a shorty though.

Oaklee sits in the bathroom with me when I get ready in the morning.

I had to put this picture on because her face in this

is so freaking cute. Couldn't you just eat those cheeks?

Oaklee's first snow adventure. You can' tell but

the reason her mouth is open is because it was snowing

on her face and she was trying to eat it.

Showing off her sitting up skills. And her pretty blue eyes.

Ryan and I got called in to nursery a few months ago but Oaklee

hates going because there's too much commotion. Not to mention

all the kids try to 'help' me take care of her. So now, every Sunday

Oaklee gets all dressed up and goes to church with her grandmas!

For those of you who don't know, my mom and Ryan's mom are in the same

ward. So she gets to play with both grandma's at once.

Another church outfit.

This is the most recent picture of Miss Oaklee. She's too big!

I need to figure out how to make it stop.
